Manufacturers of consumer products like household appliances including: stoves, cooking ranges, washers, dryers, ovens, children's toys, cribs, bassinets, sports gear and All terrain Vehicles (ATVs) are responsible for making products safe for consumer use.  Consumer product safety guidelines require manufacturers to safely design products, use proper materials during manufacturing, eliminate manufacturing defects, and include proper warning labels.  In the event that safety measures have not been met, manufacturers, dealers and distributors can be held liable for injuries sustained.

Appliances and Electronics

Defects in commonly used household electronics and appliances including: irons, gas stoves, electric stoves, toasters, microwave ovens and other large kitchen appliances are the cause of serious accidents and injuries every year. Defective electric stoves and ovens can cause electrocution hazards, resulting in minor skin burns, electrical shock and even fatal electrocutions.  Also, a poorly designed gas stove with an improperly positioned burner can lead to fires, resulting in burn injuries. Large kitchen appliances like refrigerators can tip over if its legs are not balanced properly and carbon monoxide poisoning can result from the use of furnaces, cooking ranges, water heaters and portable generators.

Children's Products

Every year children suffer potentially fatal strangulation injuries when the drawstring of their clothes gets snagged on furniture or their cribs. Other commonly used children's products that pose such dangers include blankets, high chairs, cribs, playpens and strollers.  These accidents are very often attributed to improper designs.

Dangerous Toys

It is estimated that 80 percent of all toys American children play with are manufactured outside the United States. Too often, these toys contain unacceptably high levels of lead paint that can cause developmental and neurological defects in growing children.

Defective Sports Equipment

Sports fun can quickly turn into tragedy when helmets don’t offer ample protection in the event of an accident or when exercise gear fails, resulting in major musculoskeletal and other injuries.

Recreation Products

Since they were introduced, All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) have constantly been in the news as they have contributed to many injury accidents. The Yamaha Rhino has been the subject of several product liability lawsuits due to a design defect that causes it to topple over while turning, trapping the driver's legs beneath the machine, possibly causing severe crushing injuries and amputations.

Outdoor Products

Garden furniture that is prone to breakdowns and collapses, faulty lawn mower blade guards and barbeque grills and fire pits that pose a threat of explosion are just some of the defective outdoor products you use everyday.
